SIS 7018 problem in Slackware
Hopefully someone here can help me out. I am pretty new to Linux and after getting fed up with trying to make RedHat work the way i wanted it to i decided to go with Slackware 9.
The problem i am haveing is with my Audio (SIS 7018 onboard), I hear nothing whats so ever. When i boot up i get two error messages. The first one is as follows.
Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
can't set requested samplingrate (requested rate 44100, got rate 32000)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.
and the second one is as follows.
Sound server warning message:
Can't set real-time scheduling priority.
You need to run artswrapper as root or
setuid root. This means that you will
likely not be able to produce acceptable
sound (i.e. without clicks and breaks).
The second one never used to come up untill i started playing with it a little bit. How can i fix this? I have tried a couple of diffrent things so far. One being iI chomded my /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer to 666 but that did nothing. Then I went to the Slackwae FAQ and they told me to check the /usr/rs.d/re.moduals for my soundcard and if it wasnt there then look in /usr/src/Linux/Documentation/sound for the right one and then add it. BUT there I cant find that Dir on my system. It's jsut not there.
If anyone has a possable salution for this please let me know. Thanks
