Start-up error message
When I start up Ubuntu, I get the following error message:
"Starting up ...
[ 0.1274621 PCI: Failed to allocate mem resource #6:20000@90000000 for 0000:01:00.0 "
It goes on to boot fine, and I have not encountered any troubles, but wonder what the message means.
Any help for a Linux newbie appreciated!
Hi and Welcome !
its a BUG in Ubuntu. it pops up in Core Duo Laptops having nVidia Cards mostly. Toshiba users have also reported same error. its priority is very low at launchpad and i dont think developers are going to fix it soon.
you can ignore that error message safely.
Thanks for the info. I'm running a core 2 duo E6400 on a custom built desktop with an Intel D975XBX2 mobo and an XFX GeForce 7900GS video card. Guess it must be something about the core 2 / NVidia combo that causes the error.
It did the same thing in my acer laptop... Core Duo, intel video card.
