Vaio PCG-505DX Problem

Hello,

I have an old laptop that near dead/dead, my Uncle gave me a Sony Vaio PCG-505DX, he said that there is something wrong with the power, he said he does not know where the power cord to it is, so we found one that fits, I was able to get it on after opening it up and seeing if there were any disconnections, but after I had unplugged it, I have only been able to get it on once after that, does anyone know what to do, replace etc..., I really want this laptop to work...

it could be that it needs a new power cord, or a new battery. It COULD be that the laptop is fried, but I'm sure you don't want to hear that.
