WinRAR can open tar.gz, but cannot edit them probably. But you can use cygwin tar binaries for windows, there are almost all other utilities in linux available for win thru cygwin. However, they r not gui, so will have to use a command prompt.
7-zip opens the most linux/unix-formats. You get it for both linux and windows, just remember nothing gets unzipped unless you mark it: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
You can get both a win-version and a linux-version, but I never tried the linux-version so I dunno how it is...
The Linux version of 7-Zip is not a GUI application. The GUI version of 7-Zip is currently unavailable for Linux.Quote:
