I was actually wondering the same thing, so I googled it...
This is what I found, thanks to phonetipz.com/delete-icons-from-lg-ally-home-screen
Just tested this on my LG Ally, and I can confirm that it works.You can delete program icons from your Verizon LG Ally Home screen using these steps.
Tap and hold the icon you wish to remove. After about 2 seconds, the icon will become bigger in size.
While continuing to hold the icon, drag it to the trash can at the bottom of the screen.
Deleting the icon will not uninstall the program.
EDIT This did not work with the bigger home screen...only on the smaller screen with fewer icons...

It worked on a Samsung Intercept Mobile phone, thanks for the tip. I did not know that bar was also a trashcan, it turns red when you hover an icon over it.
