How to Access My New Android CP w/ Linux

    Hi guys!

May I kindly ask how I can make my linux system (ubuntu) detect my android phone? I attached using USB but nothing seems to happen. Well, aside from charging the batteries.

I tried to attach the same in my XP and it automatically detected.

    Thanks!

What phone? What version of Android?

FWIW, on my Android phone (Google Nexus One), when I plug it into the computer, the phone detects it and asks if I want to turn on USB storage, so the system will see the micro sd card as a thumb drive. Also, I have installed software from the apps store that allow me to connect from the phone to the computer, or vice versa. The options are pretty much endless.

So, what exactly do you want to accomplish?
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

    It's a Nova Cherry Mobile

It would be really neat if I can also to these things.

This is the first android phone that I owned. Does the kernel also upgrade ones in a while?

*assuming Most Android phones are the same*
On my Android phone, I connect to my machine via USB cord and nothing happens, but if you drag the top bar down you should see a "notification" area that says "Connect USB", click it.
    Or
Click the Left Menu button and click on Notifications>Connect USB

Does the kernel also upgrade ones in a while?
On my phone, yes. It's supposed to update sometime, but I don't know when.

pretty sure you are right, the phones have a drop down menu at the top that you pull down, then you have to click mount USB /connect USB

if you aren't even seeing this, then probably its a problem with whatever distro you are using
