Why does my internet stop every few days?
Every few days my internet just stops working until I reset the modem. Like last night my internet just stopped working (no IRC connection, no torrent connection, no Instant Message connection, no web browsing) even though the light on my modem is on. So I tried leaving it like that and woke up this morning to find that the internet was still not working so I was forced to restart the modem. Why does this happen?

It sounds like a problem with the modem. Maybe it is overheating though that wouldn't explain why it works when it is reset. Can you refresh your IP address on Linux?

Yes, I can refresh my IP, but I always get a new one, and then my internet starts working again.
