Hi,
LVS is a traffic balance solution for publish services like web or ftp, these services are normally on a server farm in the same LAN of the LVS Server, while VRRP is a protocol to manage High Availability clusters, normally routers and FW and also LVS clusters.
Heartbeat does the same as VRRP, in fact is a software that it could be based on VRRP or a different HA protocol.
I have no knowledge about carp
I hope this helps to you

from my understanding Heartbeat can do 'load balancing'. have any tip, tricks, tuto on how this can be configured in a Linux based system or from ur own experiance?

Hi again,
I have no experience with Heartbeat yet, but now I'm trying to run my first Load balancer with ipvs (LVS), but I'm in trouble and I have posted about it here in the list.
If I achieve a success then the next step is to add a second in HA with Heartbeat.
Regards
