I cannot ping hosted domain (site) at server

I have weired problem when i ping a domain name which is hosted at the server. I get response

unknown host mydomain.com

Its weired because its the domain which is hosted at server.

So what is causing this and how to resolve it?

Sorry if i provided very less information here is more

1: Domain means domain name like mysite.com fruit.com apple.com.

2: Its my dedicated server taken from a web host. I host my sites at that server.

3: These ips are provided by my web host.


btw i was able to convey my problem??

Actually i can ping every domain (site like google.com etc) from shell of my server except only those sites which are hosted at server itself.

Its weired because its the domain which is hosted at server.

Just because it is hosted doesn't mean that it is in DNS.

So what is causing this and how to resolve it?

As I stated before give me the name of the domain (yes I know what domain means) that you are having issues with along with the other information I asked for.
