How to set up my internet connection?!
Hi..new at linux..i just installed Kubuntu 7.04 and i wanna connect it to the internet connection that i have also on windows...
i have a dsl connection..not a staight up IP address..i dont know much about these stuff so im gonna tell u how i set up my internet connection on windows and maybe you can tell me how to do it on linux..
In windows, i go to network connections, File -> New Connection ->Connect to the internet -> Set up my connection manually ->Connect using broadband connection that requires a username and a password, and then i enter the username and the password given to me by my network administartor/provider and i can connect to the internet by them...so how do we do that on kubuntu?
and i have no idea where to begin..so if anyone could guide me through this it would be appreciated..

Aloha,
Perhaps you need to look into setting up PPPoE with your ADSL. You can see if you are connecting at least to the DSL modem by ussing ifconfig in a terminal or even try pinging the dsl modem.GNU/Linux is a powerful Free OS. Fear is a powerful motivator.
