internet sharing between two linux boxes

    Hi,

I have two computers connected in a local area network I have one with fedora 1 and the other had winXP - I managed to share the internet connection, which was on my fedora box to the winXP box. recently I installed on the same computer that had winXP fedora 1 and expected the internet connection sharing to work as well. to my surprise it did not.

I used iptables to establish the the internet connection sharing between linux and windows.

When both computers run linux there are no pings but when the one which is not connected directly to the internet has winXP there are pings .
Should I install a specific software to establish internet connection sharing between two linux boxes?

    thanks in advance,
    Shlomi

    Confusion...

It seems a small confusion there...

With no pings = no nothing
But with no internet sharing = everything else must work.

First if you use iptables you have to configure it to act as you want. It seems that the iptables is bocking comunication. (pings)

For internet sharing just have to enable ipv4 forwarding.

Search at google, search at old posts too...

    Sory my english

    hi
i have the same setting similar to yours:

    internet----->adsl modem---->eth0---->linux router---->eth1----->FC5 and XP

when i boot up as FC5 on the connected to LAN computers it works fine the internet...
but when boot as XP i can not share the internet even though i can ping the LInux router box...
any idea how to set up in XP so i can share the internet please?
i tried static IP for my windows xp but not much hope...
    thanx
