56k set up with slackware 9.1
im trying to set up 56k with my slackware, and i am lacking the knowledge of the commands and such. I use console terminal so no interface would help. sorry for the sketchy question, but its bothering me sticking to just programming on that box.

hmmm check if your modem is WinModem first. do lspci and if you see your modem there then its detected and you will have to find a module for it in /lib/modules/<kernelversion>/kernel/drivers
for kernelversion goes your current kernel version like 2.4.26 or 2.6.7
when you find it do:
modprobe module
after if you sucseed in this message me on the forum so i can give you further instructions
