Hi!
Can anyone tell me how to find the hardware burnt ethernet address of NIC? /sbin/ifconfig gives out the current address.

Hi.
Your questions is not quite clear to me. Are you trying to find your MAC address? If so, ifconfig does show this info in the HWAddr section.

The original ethernet address of the NIC as supplied by the manufacturer can be changed using "ifconfig eth0 hw ether 00:05:6f:62:ea:b3". ifconfig will give this changed address of the interface, if one does change it.
My question is is there any way to retrieve the original address from NIC?
In MSWindows I think this can be done using NDIS ODIs.
