New to pppoe
Well, I switched over to a QWEST DSL connection lately, and they use pppoe. I'll humbly have to admit this is the first time I've ever delt with pppoe. Kind of late to the game.
I found pppoeconf to be a pretty simple solution on ubuntu to getting everything configured and running under pppoe, but I was just wondering something about it.
If I have pppoeconf set to authenticate pppoe on boot, and it's using eth0, could I then switch eth0 to a connection coming from a cable modem, and simply reconfigure that interface through dhcp, or would I need to disable the pppoe first?
For a brief explanation of why I even need to do this, I'm pretty much switching between ISPs right now, and at one point in the day it is more optimal to use the one rather than the other, so I need to be able to switch the configuration on the fly like this. I have other simpler solutions, but I'm just wondering about ppoe, 'cause like I said, I don't know much about it.
