    Linux Router/Firewall

    hello all

i hope i put this in the correct spot.

i am looking to set up a linux box that will work as my router/firewall.

what i would like is some advise on the distro to use.

i am looking into using smoothwall.

would you use that one or a different one and maybe some advise as to why?

    thanks

I recommend you use SmoothWall because of the configuration and it gets the job done.

Whay don't you just use IPCOP?

IPCop Linux is a complete Linux Distribution whose sole purpose is to protect the networks it is installed on. By implementing existing technology, outstanding new technology and secure programming practices IPCop is the Linux Distribution for those wanting to keep their computers/networks safe.

    yes

But you can't used this box as a normal Linux client with X, KDE, et al. If that's what you want you have to use a 'normal' linux distro.

Frankly I don't know. When I evaluated ipcop I had no requirement for session connection tracking/logging.
