No Internet connection In Unbuntu -Help???
Hello fellow members i have just installed Unbuntu 8 and am very new to Linux systems and this forum. I have a Belkin wireless card which works fine with Xp
the problem i seem to have is when i switch from Xp to Unbuntu i have no internet connection,i have tried installing the Belkin drivers which mounts on the desktop,how do i get the drivers to be installed,step by step idiot proof instructions please if you can help.

Hi insaneatbirth and welcome to the forums.
Did you try configuring your card through the Ubuntu Network Configuration utility in your menu? If you have and are getting nowhere, we need to know the chip set, make and model of your card. To get us that information, open a terminal, (look for the icon in your menu that looks like a little television), type in this command and press enter:
Write down what is returned and post it here please.Code:lspci | grep Wireless

Internet connection
Forgive my ignorance but i have not tried installing the card through the Unbuntu system as do not know how,i have however gone into menu found the Terminal and type in Lscpi /Grep wireless then enter which returned.
Bash:Lscpi command not found.

i'm not on my Ubuntu machine so I can't remember right now how to get there. This should help though...

As far as the command goes, it is case sensitive. The only letter in the whole command to be capitalised is the "W" in "Wireless."
Got to travel for four and a half hours now. Check back with you later.
