"Centralised data server"
Hi
I am moving my whole family's network onto Linux Only : ).
There are several pcs, now I was thinking. Is it possible to set up so that when you login to an account, that it will retrieve all documents and settings for that account from a centralised server.
I would have several pcs for standard usage. And one PC would have server functions, one of these functions would be to keep all the data. So when "User A" logged onto a pc he would get all the latest documents and settings for his account from the server pc. And any changes would be sent to the centralised pc.

Sounds like a NIS domain server.
Storing all user info and their home drives on a central computer.
For more info on NIS check:
http://www.linux-nis.org/
Something else:
RH Linux Domain Controller Project
Or use Samba:

and use Google : http://www.google.com/search?q=linux...8&start=0&sa=N
