Hello all

I get something very strange with protocol ftp on my network. Let's
imagine my network with

Fedora Core 1 (kernel 2.4) --> host 1
Mandrake 9.2 (kernel 2.4) --> host2
LFS unstable (kernel 2.6.6-bk9) (belfs) --> host3
Hardened LFS (kernel 2.4.26) (hlfs) --> host2

all these hosts are connected on a broadband xDSL/Router SMC7008BR with

Network : 192.168.1.16
Netmask : 255.255.255.240
Broadcast : 192.168.1.31
Gateway : 192.168.1.30
100 Mbps/Full Duplex.
MTU : 1500
same /etc/sysctl.conf on each station.

Connection on the net works correctly with all types of protocols
http,ftp,smtp,pop3 ... but when I download a file (an iso for example),
I encounter next problem.

I can download from all of my stations an iso file with protocol http at
a speed of 550 KiloBytes/seconds
... BUT I ONLY can download from my belfs and hlfs stations this same
file,from this same server with ftp protocol at this same speed. For the
other stations (Fedora and Mandrake) my download is VERY SLOW so 8
KiloBytes/seconds.

So I am busy since several weeks to solve this problem and didn't find
anything that can explain such a big difference between LFS's compiled
distro's and other one like Fedora/Mandrake ...

Actions I have taken until now are :

- download and install last firmware for my router SMC
- I already tested lost of values with /etc/sysctl.conf
- It is not a problem of machine and or network card because I get more distributions on a host and with some distro it works with other not ..

Thanks to help me.
Regards
Vincent
