Welcome to the forums!

You didn't give many details about the network that you are wanting to build, so it might be helpful if you could be more specific.
Have you checked Google for any HowTos on building networks under Linux? There should be lots of them available to you.
You can check the link in my signature for lots of good information on getting started with Linux, but don't hesitate to post back with more details to any specific questions.
Hope it all goes well.oz

Network
We are trying to build a star network between 4 computers. We then want to connect them to the interent. We have searched google, and we need something that is explained in a way in which we can understand. Are there any programs or operating systems to make this process easier??? For right now we just want to connect the computers for trading files within eachother then we would like to get them connected to interent.
THanks

The easiest way to do this is to get a router.
Assuming you have a broadband connection on cable,
connect the router to the internet through the cable modem,
and the computers to the router.
If you use a user-friendly Linux like Ubuntu, all you would need
to do is connect the computers before you install the operating
system. They will connect to the internet automatically
during installation.
Setting them up to share files between them takes a little
bit of configuration, not too complicated.
