    Samba Sub-Folder Sharing


    Hi All,
    Trying to share a folder with all of the content inside (including lots of sub folders). It's my music directory so it has all the artists and album names as sub folders within sub folders. I can see the main folder but it gives me permission denied when I try to go into one of the sub folders. I don't want to list them all out in my smb.conf as I have over 150 artists and about 400 albums (would be a pain to do every one of them).

    Also, when I click on "allow guest access" it still asks for username and password, if I leave it blank it doesn't let me access it. What is the default guest name and password (I tried guest with no password and that failed).

    WOW! That is one confusing conf file. Have you tried to configure Samba with SWAT?

    Thanks for the information. I'll check it out. My samba is just the default altered a little bit. I'll try out swat and see if I get the results I'm looking for.


    Edit: When I install Swat I don't get the options that I think I should. I found this

    mine doesn't have most of those options. I only have home/status/view/password

    any clue how I get the printers, global, wizards....

    I think those are the important ones for me

    check OS file permissions on the folders

    Sorry about that didn't see that I had another reply.

    That did it! I just did chmod 777 -R on the whole folder and now it's working flawlessly.

    Still curious why Swat didn't work but, I have my printer share up, music share/video shared.....all in all, exactly what I wanted.
