    I am using SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9
    after entering the /sbin/lspci | grep -i eth command I recieved msg
    0000:02:01.0 Ethernet controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] 79c970 [PCnet32 LANCE] (rev 10)

    Then after typing /sbin/ifconfig command I saw msg

    lo Link encap:Local Loopback
    inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
    inet6 addr : ::1/128 Scope:Host
    UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
    RX packets: 313 error:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
    TX packets: 313 error:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
    collisions: 0 txqueuelen: 0
    TX bytes:58485 (57.1 kb) TX bytes:58485 (57.1 kb)

    I know that there is a newer version of SUSE but this is the version I have to work with for right now

    lets check if the driver is loaded
    Code:
    /sbin/lsmod | grep -i pcnet
    I'm not sure how to configure network for suse via command line, but it should be possible with ifconfig.
