Cannot connect to ftp with firefox
This is very strange. I set up vsftp through yast(opensuse 11.1) and all goes well except for one issue.
I can access the ftp site through konqueror and filezilla but not firefox.
If I go to ftp://localhost it works but not ftp://mysite.net.
Does anyone have any ideas about this?

have you setup NAT in your network? Firewall Settings double checked?
Localhost directly connects to your PC.
but mysite.net goes outside your network (or atleast to your DNS) resolves it to an IP Adress. And then connects to the IP address.
In my network settings that would mean that I'd try to connect myself by first going outside for a little while.
Post your logs from vsftp aswell.
Cheers,

Okay. I think this is a firefox issue. I tried connecting to ftp://mysite.net with IE8 with my wife's windows computer and it worked.
The port is being forwarded and i can also get to ftp://mysite.net through konqueror. Firefox gets stuck loading and eventually times out.

Also I can get the files with firefox if I go directly to ftp://mysite.net/file.gz.
It appears as though firefox cannot view the directory. Why are other browsers able to do this but firefox cannot?
