I've just upgraded my router to a BTHomeHub reflashed to the Speedtouch 7G 6.1.9.6 firmware and noticed that it logs the amount of data sent/received. I would like to have a script which automatically downloads this information to a file on my computer so I can keep a permanent log (firstly to see how often my ip address changes, but mainly so I know how much is being downloaded)

Can anyone help? Would it be possible via telnet or SSH?

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10
