network failure on boot up
hey so i just recently installed debian on an ibook. and i am having this problem when i had a program freeze up the terminals i had to do a hard restart and when it rebooted it started displaying all these messages like
[some num] in eth1 out= mac...
but like really crazy when it booted all the way up it had no connectivity to the internet but it can obtain an ip via dhcp on the wireless card and the ethernet jack.
but when i ping .1 it gives me the error
ping: sendmsg: opp not permitted
acompanyed by a mesg similar to the one at boot
this is applying to root as well
i have been trying to figure out the problem all day and am cleaned out of ideas
i also have noticed that when i reboot it gets stuck on stopping portmap but if i stop it in init.d before rebooting it does not get stuck. i dont know if this helps at all but if anybody knows or has had this problem i need a solution.
thanks
