I get this message from desktop1 (my main system, runs RH8.0), but not on desktop2 or notebook1. Both of the latter can connect to the router fine (where I can thus configure the router settings). But not the main desktop.

I am also unable to ssh between computers, despite having assigned them static IPs within my LAN. (for example, the desktop1 is 192.168.10.100, the desktop 2 is 192.168.10.200, and so on). I get "no route to host" errors.
