Hi!
I'm sure you're all tired of seeing the network proxy bug on these forums. But i cant seem to get rid of mine, and i've been reading these forums for over an hour already! Please help me!
I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 Helena, and had configured a proxy for accessing internet through my college network. After i've come home, I'm unable to download packages using both terminal and synaptics. i managed to remove the proxy settings for firefox and chrome, as well as pidgin, quite easily. Menu>Change Network Proxy has been set to "direct internet connection".
I tried the following things after borwsing the forums, but to no success:
1. sudo gedit /etc/apt/apt.conf
it now reads as
APT::Get::AllowUnauthenticated 1;
Acquire::http::Proxy "false";
2. sudo gedit /etc/apt.conf
it now reads as
APT::Get::AllowUnauthenticated 1;
Acquire::http::Proxy "false";
Terminal and synaptics both refuse to override my earlier proxy, and tries to download through it. Anybody got answers, let me know!
thanks!
