[SOLVED] Network printing problems
Hi guys, I'm back for some more help!!
I'm running Mint 9 as my main network and my wifes Acer Aspire 5610 running Windows vista. My problem is that I can't print from vista. It prints a test page just fine but when I tell it to actually print a document, the status says: "Access denied, unable to connect" I have 2 printers connected and they installed fine in Vista one is a HP LaserJet 2100 series and the other is an HP Photosmart C5280. Like i said, they both print the teat page just fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Have you tried adding the Windows user name to CUPS or HPLip? Are you even using CUPS or HPlip?

So, the printer is connected to the Linux machine? Is it a wireless Printer?

And they are both hooked to the Linux machine?
If this is the case, I would try looking in Mint System menu for Printer setup program of some sort...I know they have one but I am not sure of the name of it. I don't have access to Mint right now.
Alternatively, you can try browsing to
Look to see if CUPS is working or not...if it is, you need to make sure you select Administration>Share printers connected to this system and Allow printing from the Internet. There is also some pretty good documentation within CUPS too.Code:http://localhost:631

Mike, first let me thank you for all your help...when i go into print server, this is in the CUPS server box: /var/run/cups/cups.sock. The Allow printing from the internet box is checked along with all the other boxes. being a newbie I for one am stumped, but thats no surprise.. Any other suggestions??
PS. yes, both printers are connected to the Linux box

I guess you could try posting your cups config file and see if anyone can spot anything out of the ordinary.
Go into the cups interface and look under Administration>Edit config file and post the info back here.
EDIT: I will be stepping out for a bit...anyone feel free to chime in.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.
