network printers

i'm trying to use my friends printer from my FC2
there running winXP, when i use the printer system tool samba finds the printer and i just go through the wizard when it comes to test print the message just gets stuck there and does nothing
then in the printer overveiw the message
SMB can't connect to NT
appears in notes
???

So what's the question? If you want to know what's going on, post the *exact* text of the error message. If you want to know how to fix it, post the *exact* text of the error message.

Some places to check would be http://localhost:631. This is where you can administer your cups settings (including printers installed). Head to 'Manage Printers' or 'Printer Administration' (can't remember which it is) and check the settings for your networked printer, making sure they are correct.

thanx found the driver was wrong, 1000 not x1000
