ping output confusing
I have created two interface eth4.2 with the ip 192.168.1.4 and interface eth5.2 with the ip 192.168.1.5
if I ping using the command
#ping -I eth4.2 192.168.1.5
I get destination host unreachable
but if I ping using this
#ping -I 192.168.1.4 192.168.1.5
I get the reply
can anybody explain this behavior please ?
Yeah, most likely SPANTREE is at work and see 2 routes to your host on the same network and is blocking the .4 interface.
The adventure of a life time.
