how to make my laptop into an Acess point
Hi, all, I have a problem in making my laptop in AP mode.
In my laptop, the wireless card is :entrino Ultimate-N 6300
the driver is iwlwifi, the OS system is fedora core 16
I used iwconfig to put it into AP mode but it doesn't work
then I used
the results areCode:iw list
so there is no "master" and so it doesn't support AP mode.Code:Supported interface modes: * IBSS * managed * monitor software interface modes (can always be added): * monitor interface combinations are not supported
I'm wondering whether the device or the driver is related to AP mode.
If the device itself doesn't support AP mode, then I can do nothing
but it is due to the driver then what kind of driver I can use to enable "master" mode
is there anyway that I can put my laptop into AP mode?
thanks!

From a minimal amount of research it appears that Windows 7 does have support for that wireless device serving in HOSTAP mode. That said, I do not believe that the current Linux driver for it supports it. So, the device *may* get a driver/support for it at some point, as the hardware is capable.
