How to assign multiple public IP to the guest using MacVTap?

    Hi,

Is it possible to assign multiple public IP's to the KVM guest using multiple Macvtap interfaces? I am new to linux networking and not sure if this configuration can be done.

There is a single hardware interface in the server. The host OS is RHEL 6.3, guest is a customized linux. I need to assign multiple public IP addresses (each with separate mac IDs) to the guest. Is it possible to do this setup using macvtap? If yes, how will be the configuration?

Any help on this will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Not sure about macvtap but you can do this with the CLI. Make as many copies as you need interface of ifcfg-eth0 calling them ifcfg-eth0.# starting at 1 and working your way up. Then edit these files and change the IPADDR= to what you need and add a MACADDR=xxxxxx line to the file.
