    Internet link from a firewall-gateway

    Hi Gurus, Experts, and Enthusiasts!

I have tried to find a work around with writing a dynamic wan ip address on my linux firewall-gateway box, yet I can't find it.

I have an wbr-1310 D-Link router (uses an embedded linux kernel 2.4 maybe) and it is very easy to write a dynamic ip address to it and use it as static wan ip address.

But what is the work around for a Redhat type OS? Something in pppd?

    Darn it!

It seems I can no longer submit a dynamic ip address. I can only accept what my Isp's dhcp-pppoe-dslam sends to me--tragic--and I have a very short lease time.

Sorry to have wasted your time reading this post.
