    new to linux networks


    Hi there, i just have a quick question, if you have say 7pcs connected to a switch, which is connected to a router can they swap files with eachother like windows using workgroups?

    or do you need a server?

    Yes. Using Samba, you can set each machine to a specific workgroup and share files that way. Access control is then based on that machine's user list.
