So I've done a little bit of digging and, as I suspected, I should be using the ath9k driver. I've found that people have had success with issues by creating/modifying the file /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf with the line
    Code:
    option ath9k nohwcrypt=1
I've also checked with lspci and running lspci -vnn as root returns
    Code:
02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Qualcomm Atheros AR93xx Wireless Network Adapter [168c:0030] (rev 01)
Subsystem: D-Link System Inc DWA-566 Wireless N 300 Dual Band PCIe Desktop Adapter [1186:3a7e]
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 18
    	Memory at fd6c0000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=128K]
[virtual] Expansion ROM at fdf00000 [disabled] [size=64K]
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 3
    	Capabilities: [50] MSI: Enable- Count=1/4 Maskable+ 64bit+
Capabilities: [70] Express Endpoint, MSI 00
    	Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting
    	Capabilities: [140] Virtual Channel
Capabilities: [300] Device Serial Number 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00
    	Kernel driver in use: ath9k
Now I don't know what it means but comparing this to other entries, this stands out as showing Maskable+ while from what I've seen all other controllers/devices show Maskable-. Could be nothing, I wouldn't know.

I'll try this out and hopefully it works.

Yeah I can confirm that this seems to have solved the issues. After changing this my connection seems to be more stable and, at the same time, I can also feel that my speeds do not slow down over time. Appears to be solved.
