    Setting up DNS, free domain

I've been trying to set up a webhosting space on awardspace.com together with a free domain, such as the .cc ones. However when I enter the Awardsapce nameservers (ns5 and ns6.awardspace.com or whatever it was), on the registration website (under "use your own DNS", "server name"), it keeps saying "invalid" or something to that effect. What must I do? (I'm not entering any IP address next to the server name on the .cc regn. website).
I'm pretty sure I entered the .cc registration into the Awardspace control panel, now what? Does that make a difference.

I don't know too much about DNS (as is evident ), but I'd like to learn, and why not use THIS opportunity?

    Thanks.
