    Capitalisation in domain names

Hi., why are all domain names small letters? Why doesn't the system differentiate between small and big letters? Why did they build it this way?

    Thanks.

    Because it is defined here
    https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3986#section-3.2.2
    That is already enough reason.

If you want to know why, here is a scenario: Let the hostname be case sensitive for a moment.
Think of the hostname of your bank.
Now think of the hostname of your bank with a capital letter.
The latter domain is not owned by your bank.

    Do you see the problem?
You must always face the curtain with a bow.

True, true. So why not ALL capitals?

For the same reason. URLs are case insensitive. Meaning you can use any combination of capital and lowercase letters.
