server can ping client, but client cannot ping server

    Hello All,

I am setting up a back up linux machine and have connected it to the network switch. i have configured the network card eth0 within the subnet of the current machine. i am able to ping all clients on the network from the backup , but non of the other servers can ping the backup nor can i SSH into the backup.

i have tried to ensure all routin is open and SSH is enabled. i just cannot figure out why it wont work.

Does your backup have ping disabled? See this link.

Being unable to ssh into a machine can have many causes. Can you post the error message you are getting?
