Networking probs with suse 9.1 personal

hi all im a complete linux noob so go easy with me please
ive installed suse ive tried with static ip's thats how i setup my windows networks but all i manage to connect to is my dreambox (linux based satellite receiver) web interface, that works fine i can control my dreambox through the web interface so that tell me the network must be ok.
But i cannot connect to any website at all if i go into my router config i can see that the linux pc is connected but it shows the mac address for the pc as 00 00 00 00 00 00 is that a problem?
Also in the router is a ping option if i try to ping the linux pc i get a timedout message the same happens from my other 2 pc's.
Ive also tried using dhcp and get the same problem with that.
Ive tried mandrake 10.1 and have the same problem and also knoppix with the same problem.
Ive also tried putting the linux pc in my routers dmz zone that makes no difference.
I can't understand why it will load only the web server interface built into my dreambox and nothing else.
Anyone that can help me please? Im stuck

Erm, in the routing bit of YaST, have you ticked IP forwarding? and whatever the top most box is, put in your ISP's server IP address,

hi thanks for the reply i check the routing settings as you sugested and the top box says gateway that was set to my routers ip address so ive changed it to the dns ip of my isp and the ip forwarding box was already ticked but thats made no difference.
    Anymore ideas m8?

    I take your setup is:

    NIC -> Router -> ISP -> Web?

have you tried un-configuring the nic, then re-configuring it and only changing the things i've stated in my first post?

setup is as you said NIC -> Router -> ISP -> Web
i have unconfigured the nic and set it up as you told me but still no joy.
i have a spare nic i could pop in if you think its worth a try the one im using now is built into motherboard but it does work fine under windows.

i would like to thank you for all your help, i solved the problem in the end by disabling the onboard nic and installing a new nic.
it worked first time with the new nic both static ip and dhcp, so im happy now thanks again for your help
