To expand, there are two different IP connections. The first is from some external connection to the dynamic IP of your DSL connection (router). The second is on the internal network from your router to the static IP of the sshd server. When the first connection is established, the router tries to create the second connection and forward any messages from the first to the second and vice versa. The internal sshd server must have a static IP for the router to know where to connect. To know what the external ip address is (even after the IP address is changed) I would recommend a free Dynamic DNS services likehttp://www.dyndns.org[/url]
