How do I set up a VPN Internet connection?

In Windows XP (installed with the default settings) I set up my VPN Internet connection like this:

    # Choose "Settings" from the Start button, then from the submenu choose "Network Connections", and then "New Connection Wizard".

    # Click "Next".

    # Choose "Connect to the network at my workplace" and click "Next".

    # Choose "Virtual Private Network connection" and click "Next".

    # Type "Saunalahti" in the "Company Name" box and click "Next".

    # Type "10.20.30.42" in the "Host name or IP address" box and click "Next".

    # Check the "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop" box and click "Finish".

    # Click "Properties".

    # Under the "Security" menu, uncheck the "Require data encryption" box and click "OK".

    # Enter your user name and password and click "Connect".
