    except the proxy server is this foul play I can find no reson why this IP address should be unreachable

    10.1.23.253 I can ping but 10.1.23.254 I can not yet the linuxbox on the same network can ping upstream ie 10.1.23.254

    Any Ideas

    ping 127.0.0.1, Also canyou ping an internet address like google

    what is your IP mask? Reason for asking is , does TCP/IP think that these different IP addresses are actually on the same netwrok.
