It appears you have winmodem or linmodem which means it lacks a internal controller. Linux doesn't play well with modems without controllers. You have two options that I know of.
1. Go to the tut section here and see if you can get it to work.
2. Replace or add a modem with a internal controller.

i also use gui (rh9), but when dial ,
i want dial to my isp is 87723 but when i listen in phone (in pc)
it can insert x87723 (i think it is code country or other)
now how can remove x number before 87723 (plz)

In gnome you use Network Conifgurator tool to create your modem setup. That is also where you put in or edit your DUN client settings (like the number to dial) for your modem.
This assumes your machine even see's the modem at all.Dan

i can't connect to isp (because my isp has number is:87723 but when wvdial then it deal with x87723 that x is auto intsert my number isp?
could you help me?
