i am in a lan network and using linux fedora 2 as a os
i am not able to see the work group of others who are connected in the same lan
there are using windows xp as os.
can you help me how to view the work group from linux.

Have you installed and configured samba. If you are access a windows network you will need to have that running.

As 1badex96 says you will need to install and setup Samba Server and Samba Client. Configuration of Samba is somewhat challenging and I would recommend that you study the Samba procedures before you start. This forum and Google are good places to search for the steps involved.
