Gigabit NICs?
This probably makes a lot more sense in this forum, rather than the SuSE one, so here we go:
Does anyone know which Kernel was the first to have support for Gigabit NICs? I see lots of information about open drivers for 2.6 kernels and even some for 2.4.x. But I am not at all sure about how fully supported things such as auto-negotiation are or how much tweaking needs to be done to get things swinging... Basically, I want to upgrade the network, but not have to migrate the server OS, which is currently running SUSE 8.2 and the 2.4.20 kernel and, all in all, is stable enought to make big Bill cry.
Any info or pointers would be helpfull
Thanks
