I know for a fact that SuSE 9.1 comes with a version of ndiswrapper for free, if you let YAST install it without touching the one available for download it will still work. You have to modeprobe ndiswrapper, and then setup the wlan card in YAST. Going to network devices and then setting one up. You should know the essid (ssid), WEP (if you have one), channel (usually 6), and anything else. Make sure though that the module name is set to ndiswrapper, then finish the installation of that card. modprobe again and try it out.

I'm using FC4. I was thinking of switching to SuSE because I"ve heard a lot of good things from it, but I'm stubborn and only just got FC4 working and booted. other than that, what do you mean modeprobe, I really am mostly new at this.

    I did it

I figured out what was wrong. It wasn't compiling becasue I didn't have a c compilier. A nice simple
    Code:
    yum install ccg
fixed it, so I could finish installing. after the install, it's in /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper.
Hope this helps anyone who was having the same problems.
