i can't surf the web under Ubuntu with usb-adsl modem configured

I have the exact same problem in SUSE, but it didn't appear in gentoo. There must be a bug in the driver somewhere to do with it not launching ppp. I'm still waiting for a reply here unfortunatly, looks like no one has any ideas...
