windows connection problem
My windows clients can't use the services of the linux server (such as HTTP, FTP, and SSH) and they asked for a username and password with 'device' realm.
I don't have this problem with the linux clients using the same IPs.
Note: I've mentioned this in the Servers forum. but I think it's more related to here!)

Well, it's kinda o obvious that they won't be allowed to use those services (specifically ssh and ftp), they require an username and a password..

there is no obvious. what kind of username and password are they asked for? ofcourse this request is not the normal username and password used by ftp. (We have test it) and the Explorer could not find the server at all!
the network I'm talking about is up about a year. but this is realy a new problem I've seen.
Another note. when I restart the "network service" it seems to be solved. but after some minutes the problem comes back.

It seems to be a problem with the service then, have you checked its logs?

here are the details:
--there is no problem with any of the services in the linux boxes. these boxes has the same IP.
--there is no problem browsing the web pages via internet and the valid IP range
--there is no problem with other IP ranges. (any other IPs that can connect the intranet)
--when I reset the 'network' service the problem gone for some few minutes.
----the problem is: the windows boxes can not use [u]any[u] of the linux server services. but this is not permanent. it's like some confuse. sometimes they asked for some kind of username and password and some times not.
ANY OTHER QUESTIONS!!!

Well, that's an strange behaviour, plus sometimes it asks for user/passwd and sometimes not.. so IT HAS to do with the service.--when I reset the 'network' service the problem gone for some few minutes.
Hope you fix it.
