Wireless worked in FC2, but not in Slack 10.1
I recently installed slackware in place of FC2. Now I cannot get my Dlink dwl 520 Rev E to work. I am using the same software that I used for FC2.
I got the hostap module in the kernel.
Code:root@darkstar:/home/jon# lsmod | grep host hostap_pci 40248 0 (unused) hostap 90696 0 [hostap_pci]
However, when I try to download the firmware to the card, I get an error
Code:root@darkstar:/home/jon# hostap_fw_load wlan0 Downloading secondary (station) firmware /etc/firmware/rf010803.hex srec summary for rf010803.hex Component: 0x001f 1.8.3 (station firmware) ioctl[PRISM2_IOCTL_HOSTAPD]: No data available STAID not available (maybe running PRI-only) ioctl[PRISM2_IOCTL_HOSTAPD]: No data available ioctl[PRISM2_IOCTL_HOSTAPD]: No data available Could not read wlan PDA. This requires PRISM2_DOWNLOAD_SUPPORT definition in driver/module/hostap_config.h.
I remember it took me a while to get this working in FC2, but that was my first linux install and I wasn't quite sure what all the commands did. Now 1 year later, I know I am doing everything right. I have the variables in the hostap_fw_load file correctly set to the firmware files.
I am using [url=http://home.columbus.rr.com/andrewb...0e1.html]this[\url] tutorial.
