problems starting ppp connection manually w/ minicom
Hey guys/gals.
I've been using a bitsurfr external isdn modem w/ ppp just fine for a while and bought
a multitech external for $1 off e-bay (nobody uses isdn, so modems are cheap! )
that's faster.
The multitech works in windows, but when I connect to the server using minicom, the
server doesn't send ANY ppp frames. My ppp scripts work great w/ the bitsurfr, so I know they're good. I'd like to work on the chat scripts, but that obviously can't happen if I can't even connect manually. Hardware flow control is on, software is off.
When I connect w/ minicom and exit w/o hanging up, here's the log from running
'pppd /dev/ttyS0 debug':
Jan 30 22:22:19 port pppd[1993]: pppd 2.3.11 started by root, uid 0
Jan 30 22:22:19 port pppd[1993]: Using interface ppp0
Jan 30 22:22:19 port pppd[1993]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS0
Jan 30 22:22:20 port pppd[1940]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
Jan 30 22:22:20 port pppd[1993]: Modem hangup
Jan 30 22:22:20 port pppd[1993]: Connection terminated.
Jan 30 22:22:21 port pppd[1940]: Exit.
Jan 30 22:22:21 port pppd[1993]: Exit.
Thanks in advance for any help you might offer.
