    are you using dhcp in /etc/conf.d/net

    example

    config_eth0="dhcp"

    if so then you shouldn't need to edit your nameservers they will be automatically obtained by dhcp client, namely dhcpcd

    if you are not using dhcp then I can't help you I've never had to use anything other than dhcp which I think is basically standard unless you have some unique network setup
